Swiss German University (SGU) was established in 2000 as the first international university with a dual academic license recognized as a university under Indonesian law. The license was issued by the National Ministry of Education (DIKNAS). SGU was formed through a joint effort between Indonesia, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria with the objective of bringing a strong international focus to and promoting knowledge and technology in the higher education system od indonesia.
Primary Responsibility
Reporting to the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, the Head of Student Academic Support Services oversees staff in academic advising, disability, and tutoring support services and carries a caseload of undergraduate and graduate student advisees. The Head will serve as an integral role of the Student Affairs team providing support, advice, and direction to and for students, student activities and organizations, particularly in the area of first year students and retention support. The Head will collaboratively develop and implement programs and initiatives to address excellent student services for all students. The Head will also foster communication and collaboration between and among students, faculty, and staff.
Responsible for all activities in academic service centre & examination office
Develop and manage comprehensive academic support services for all students
Provide excellent customer service to prospective and enrolled students
Oversee assessments and placement testing for newly accepted students
Create academic plans and assist students in the registration process
Manage academic support budget
Facilitate tutor meetings and professional development sessions
Create on-going departmental assessment of student academic support services and lead recommendations for programmatic improvements
Evaluate transfer credits for incoming new students
Qualification
Qualification
Master's degree in higher education administration, counseling, or related field preferred;
Experience working with a diverse population of traditional and non-traditional adult students;
Minimum of 5 years leadership experience in multiple areas of student affairs such as Tutoring, Academic Advising, Conduct, Student Success
Proven ability to build internal and external relationships with broad constituencies;
A demonstrated commitment to student affairs; advising, coaching, or counseling experience
Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate must have strong oral and written communication presentation skills and be able to communicate effectively.
A strong comfort level working in a fast-paced, energetic environment, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining strategic perspective is expected.
This person must also possess project management skills, an entrepreneurial orientation, and a strong proficiency in technology and information management.
