Profil PT Olam Indonesia
Olam began operating in Indonesia in 1996 and our operations now stretch from the farthest corners of North Sumatra, through the heartlands of Java, to Sulawesi in Eastern Indonesia. Across this landscape, we directly employ over 800 employees who are committed to our operations in cocoa, sugar and coffee. With more than 17,000 islands stretched across the Indonesian Archipelago, Olam is actively improving the livelihoods of more than 400,000 farmers, collectors and suppliers through our annual procurement and export of 150,000 tonnes of agricultural commodities. After 15 years of investment in the agricultural commodities sector, including a 200,000 tonne capacity sugar refinery, we have now achieved annual turnover in excess of US$ 550 Million, and plan to add to this growth with further investments in both upstream and downstream initiatives. One of the flagship initiatives of the Olam Livelihood Charter is its participation in the Sulawesi Alliance of Farmers, Olam and Blommer Chocolate (SAFOB), one of the largest cocoa programmes in the world. Working in partnership with the USAID Indonesia-funded Agribusiness Market and Support Activity (AMARTA), the project aims to help improve the economic and social welfare of farming communities in Indonesia.
